![]() ![]() Actually, I've been getting my butt kicked with this Wrath of the Chosen mod. In my speed runs, I was able to end the game with one Colonel, which is ultimately what farming the Lost a bit allowed me to do. Which is why I started doing my own "speed runs". It allows you to cut certain corners and push the envelope in other areas. ![]() Really it only gives you a boost to leveling in the early game. I wouldn't agree it trivializes the game. I actually was on record saying they should. They could have easily patched it out by capping xp in a mission since I first heard about it way before the last patch. But then there are some comments to the effect that these mods may bug out.įair enough haha. ![]() Hence, I am considering getting these two mods that will allow you to have 2 faction heroes each in an expeditious manner. That said, I definitely consider the "fairest" (and I accept that's a pretty arbitrary and subjective thing) start to be to take whatever random faction is assigned and refuse to farm lost, as that essentially trivialises the whole campaign after the first four missions. I'm 100% with you that on the strategic layer though, the skirmisher start (and resistance ring before GTS) works out better for me though. Reapers are so much stronger than skirmishers that it is a pretty big achilles heel. The thing that ruins the skirmisher start for me is the arbitrary restriction that you can only get a second faction soldier from your starting faction. The twitch guy made it a little less tedious by using a macro that speeded up actual killing of the lost. A lot of tips for how to min/max this game are in the video. I first learned of the exploit from this guy on twitch who did a marathon run completing an entire LI campaign in a little over eight hours. It is pretty effing tedious, so be warned. But now with the XP farming mechanic you pointed out, I may try a new approach, as it looks like I can get a Reaper to Major faster than I thought was possible. The classic PC franchise is still in full force thanks to Firaxis’ XCOM 2 and the excellent War of the Chosen expansion, as well as the recent XCOM: Chimera Squad. The reason I start with the Reapers is simple: I want Banish ASAP for high-probability one-turn kill on the Chosen and the Alien Rulers, and I do not want to be a month late on leveling a Reaper. When it comes to hardcore tactics games, it doesn’t get much better than XCOM. It probably is best, because of how OP the reaper is for a smooth start tactically plus the fact that any faction start can unlock the skirmisher HQ bonus after a few weeks. Its why I think a Reaper start is not the definitive best faction to start with. ![]() Originally posted by learnedhand:You can do some pretty amazing things with the Skirmisher HQ bonus. So I guess I will have to ensure that I get an engineer with the first scan by save-scumming after the Gatecrasher mission! ) But it requires an engineer? That makes sense, but that is a restriction that I did not anticipate. Wow, the double rate bonus is considerable. Thus the most efficient use of the boost is to have as many engineers assigned to digging as possible when it's active, as well as having as many buildings under construction as possible, without an engineer assigned to them. So for example a building with 21 days default build time would take 10.5 days with an engineer and no scan, or 10.5 days with the scan and no engineer, or 7 days with both the scan active and an engineer assigned. If you assign an engineer to construction and scan the skirmisher HQ at the same time then the default time gets divided by three. When a new group of enemies is revealed, gain an action.Originally posted by Fringehunter7719:It doubles the workrate of any engineer assigned to digging and it doubles the rate at which buildings with no engineer assigned to them get built.
